Seoul, South Korea - Striking workers and angry farmers clashed with police in front of the National Assembly in Seoul. The workers recently began a nation-wide general strike calling for better conditions and more job security for temporary workers. The strike is being observed by only about 10% of the country's labor unions. The farmers have been demonstrating daily in opposition to new World Trade Organization (WTO) endorsed legislation that is expected to devastate small South Korean rice farmers.
